Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th, 1996 in Stavanger and is professionally known as Aurora often stylized in uppercase in the form of AURORA is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, was released in May of 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. Half the World Away from the band Oasis was recorded to accompany an advertisement of John Lewis, and Nature Boy is an Nat King Cole cover. Katy Perry's endorsement of the song Runaway on her blog added to the musician's appreciation. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano hidden in the basement and bewildered by the sound it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get an income or as a pastime and as a way to develop. She started writing her own songs. She credits Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork as her main influences. Her mother was supportive of her performing her songs in public, not to gain fame but rather to help others realize the importance of their work and what they can do for humanity. She began playing the piano as her primary instrument when she was six, and she started writing music when she turned nine. The family did not be aware of this until she turned 14. The dream was never to become Aurora. She says she just likes to compose music. She says that music is her favorite way to feel anything.
